About Law Academia UK

Built by practitioners.  Run like a chambers.

Law Academia UK was founded in 2020 by four practising solicitors who looked at the existing SQE prep market and saw expensive theatre. We built the alternative — academically rigorous, examination- honest, and priced for the people who actually need it.

Our story

Five years. Three exam reforms. One consistent method.

In 2020 the SRA was already piloting what would become the Solicitors Qualifying Examination. The big providers were charging £15,000+ for prep, structured around vocational courses that had grown out of the LPC era.

We started Law Academia UK with a different bet: that the SQE rewards doctrinal precision, examination technique, and skills training that mirrors real practice — not lecture theatres and PDF packs. Five years later, the bet has paid out. Our SQE1 first-attempt pass rate has tracked at 75–85% across every cohort since 2022, against an SRA national average that has hovered between 51% and 58%.

We don’t run subsidised programmes. We don’t carry MBA-tier marketing budgets. We’ve stayed lean by design — small cohorts, high-touch faculty, no middle managers. The fee structure (£395, £995, £1,295) reflects what it actually costs to deliver, plus a margin that pays the solicitors who teach you.

Principles

Four rules we won't break.

Principles

Practitioners teach. Period.

No one teaches a module who hasn’t practised in that area within the last24 months. If a faculty member leaves practice, they leave teaching.

Principles

The exam is the artefact.

Every module ends in examination-format practice. SQE1 means MCQs. SQE2 means timed skills stations. LLB means problem questions and essays. No exceptions.

Principles

Feedback inside 72 hours.

Submitted work is marked and returned with substantive comments within three working days. Always. We staff for it, we don’t outsource it.

Principles

One fee. No upsells.

The number on the pricing page is the number you pay. No premium tier, no “elite mentorship” add-on, no exam-week panic packages.
